Tinkers cottage
Over 2 years
A home from home! In tinkers cottage we encourage children to use their imaginations and recreate through role-play actions that they have experienced in their own lives.
We have created this magical environment by enriching it with carefully selected authentic resources, which we to refer to as ‘Treasures’ e.g. china tea-sets, trinkets, vintage vanity sets, glass perfume bottles, porcelain ornaments, mirrors and vintage hats, handbags and shoes.
I imagine many of us have fond childhood memories of visiting Grandparents and playing with trinkets, using ornamental animals in story telling, trying on hats and shoes or drinking our juice out of a china teacup. How special and privileged did you feel to have that trust placed in you?
How careful were you with those items?
How many hours could you spend tinkering and discovering?

We pride ourselves in our room and have worked hard to develop enchanting areas where the children can Investigate, Experiment, Imagine, Create, Pretend, Construct and be Curious! We are passionate about developing beautiful and thoughtful Provocations and Invitations to Play following our children's interests, or introducing concepts of the natural world, enticing them to be captivated and pilots in their play.

Routines
The routines of our babies are each unique and recognised as being a key part of your child’s happiness and vital to a smooth transition between home and nursery. Whether it be very strict, or a very relaxed routine, we will discuss this with you during your child’s ‘Settling In’ visits and use their completed ‘All About Me’ to gain a full understanding, so that we can strive to mirror their home routine while at nursery.
Over 2 years
We have spent lots of time and take great pride in the hard work we have put in to create an inviting environment which is filled with open ended and natural resources.
The children love building with the cardboard tubes and tins in the construction area, dressing up in our home corner and expressing themselves as budding artists in our self serve creative area.
Routines
This is often a time where a desire to be independent develops and we support each of our children in their own personal missions e.g. learning to climb steps safely, accessing their own drink, putting on their own shoes and socks, finding their own belongings, drinking from an open cup, developing cutlery skills and toileting. The bathroom is located within the room and has two small toilets, potties, nappy change area and child height sinks. We also have our own hand-wash station in Tinkers Island to enable easy hand-washing before/after eating, after hygiene routines and messy activities!
